Unclog Toilet

Causes of Toilet Clogs

  • Flushing foreign objects down the toilet bowl outlet
  • Throwing paper products other than toilet paper into the toilet bowl
  • Children’s toys
  • Wipes – Be especially careful of wipes as they can cause clogs downstream
  • Toilet flusher malfunction – resulting in insufficient water being flushed down the drain

Avoiding Clogged Toilet Bowls

  • Don’t throw any paper products,¬†other than toilet paper,¬† into the toilet bowl
  • Keep the toilet lid closed when the toile is not in use
  • Keep kid’s toys out of the bathroom except at bath-time

Trying to Unclog a Clogged Toilet

  • Try to unclog the bowl with a toilet plunger
  • Try a chemical clog buster such as Drano. However, be careful not to use on a regular basis as it will cause pipe corrosion
  • Try using a plumbing snake (auger) if you have one. Make sure it is the type made for use in toilet bowls or it could scratch the porcelain
  • If you live in the greater Baltimore area and you have tried all of the above techniques and the bowl is still clogged, call 1st Choice Plumbing, 410-967-6547
